My family stayed here on 26/11/11. We booked because of other good reviews and were not disappointed. Friendly atmosphere, good food and service. Location is excellent.

Reviewed 29 October 2011 NEW This guest house "does exactly what it says on the tin"... Location: very well located in a quiet street at the east end of the city centre about 8 mins leisurely walk from Princes Street. A huge plus is being able to park the car at the hotel for the duration as the location is convenient enough to walk to places of interest in both the new town and the old town. There are plenty and varied eating establishments in the immediate area. Owners: down to earth, friendly, helpful and informative. Rooms: We were on the top floor and the room was probably one of the smaller doubles. The layout was well thought-out and comfortable with tv and tea/coffee making facility. We heard absolutely no noise from doors or the other rooms although they were all occupied. In fact we overslept on our last day (all those Edinburgh hills took their toll). Breakfast: Served by Fiona and Freddie in the very pleasant breakfast room. As well as cereals, yogurt and fruit, there was a good selection of cooked dishes which were beautifully cooked by Freddie and set us up for the daily exertions of being at leisure in the hilly capital.
Added extras: Good selection of adapters, chargers, etc., for guest use, free wifi, lots of information about tours, sights and acitivities and, the biggest plus, owners who were happy to advise about eating places, etc.
This is listed as a 3 star guesthouse but is comparable to several 4 stars in which we have stayed. Many pros and no cons worth mentioning.
All in all, this was a very good choice (aided byTripadvisor reviews) which we happily recommend. Needless to say we would stay here again.

Really happy to thoroughly recommend Broughton Hotel. Great location, warm, cosy, room with tv, wifi, tea/coffee, etc., also very quiet - lovely. Guesthouse very clean and well decorated throughout. Loved Freddie's cooking of very generous breakfast (plenty of choice), Fiona exemplified efficiency and both very down to earth, friendly, helpful and informative.
Easy to walk to city centre and old town. Free parking at hotel much appreciated. Plenty of eating and entertainment establishments nearby.
It takes a lot of hard work to run this type of business and impress the guests at the same time. Well done both and thank you - we really enjoyed our break.

This is such a great B & B! We really enjoyed our stay at Broughton House and would definitely stay here again. Very clean, comfortable and quiet. The location is very convenient to everything, restaurants, shopping, Royal Mile, etc. The breakfast is amazing with many choices. Fiona really was wonderful making us feel right at home. We hope to be back one day!

We had a really great stay in your B&B! It's perfectly located between Royal Mile and Leith Walk to cruise the city. We enjoyed to stay in the well-kept rooms and we loved the wide range of breakfast. We`ll be back!

What a great stay this is!! Freddie and Fiona are very kind and more than helpfull. Breakfast is just great and the B+B is situated in a quit street, but also just a few streets away from the very centre of Edinburgh. This is value for money ! Next time when we'll visit E'burgh, we sure will stay at your B+B. warm regards and say hi to Jet ! Gerda + Anton

This small but delightful hotel is a gem! Our room was roomy and comfortable with bathroom to match. The breakfast menu was excellent and the generous servings were a good beginning to a day of walking and sightseeing.Hosts Freddie & Fiona were most welcoming and helpful. Off the street parking was great as was the less than ten minute walk to Princes Street. We'll be back!
