Very nice place, comfortable. We had a family room for 3 people and it met our needs. The owners were accommodating with our comings and goings. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful. Good variety of dishes.

Tips for other travellers
This inn is well located just below Leith Walk and Waterloo Place. If you are doing a Rabbie's bus tour, you are just 5 minutes by foot from their office.

Broughton Street is a minute away and has a great variety of cafés and pubs.

The Royal Mile is 15 minutes by foot and Princes Street a little less.

The very cheap and convenient city transit is almost at the doorstep.

Tips for other travellers
The Filling Station at the Omni centre or on the Royal Mile. The staff are fantastic and the food is *** - try the specials menu, 2 courses for £11.95. I recommend the haggis burger : )

The bus tours are good value for money and the Royal Botanic Gardens are incredible (allow at least 3 hours). The Camera Obscura is another must see but it's not accessible for anyone with mobility problems. The museum of childhood is appealing to both children and adults alike - the spooky old dolls are the best!

The Royal Mile has street entertainers - stop and have a look, there are some incredible people. Also pay a visit to St Giles Cathedral and Deacon Brodies tea room for the best scones ever!

“Very cosy place”
Reviewed 5 December 2013 Me and my aunt were looking for a quick place to stay in Edinburgh since we didn't expect to be staying the night. This B&B is fairly close to city centre, main tourist attractions and have excellent service. A very good place for students with budgets and short stay with family.

Enjoyed our stay, recommended”
Reviewed 30 December 2013 Our room was lovely with nice high ceilings and a big bathroom. Free WiFi and private parking are added benefits and the reason I chose this over other places. Had a very good nights sleep in fact probably the best I've had in a hotel for a long time. The location is excellent only a short walk from the Playhouse and main shopping streets. I'd certainly recommend staying here and would come back again.

Christmas in Edinburgh”
Reviewed 1 January 2014 What a delightful hotel - warm, personable, charming and convenient to the city center. We had outstanding access to the Christmas Market and the Royal Mile. We walked everywhere. Fred & Fiona were exellent and provided both marvelous service and directions/travel hints for our trip to an unfamiliar area. It made our travel a success - a perfect location for the city!!

We thoroughly enjoyed the food and accomodations and would recommend it for business or pleasure travel.

“I did really enjoy my stay here”
Reviewed 4 weeks ago I booked a room in Broughton Hotel in early December and stayed there for 5 nights. I have never written a review of a hotel before, but this time I felt that I should. Everything in the hotel was just right. I usually stay in big and centrally located hotels but Broughton Hotel beats them easily. First of all, the room was of an adequate size, very clean and well equipped. Every single day I had fresh shortbreads and bags of coffee and tea stocked up which is a definite plus. Secondly, Freddie's breakfasts were ***! Every day I chose something else just to make sure to try out everything. It's worth to stay in Broughton Hotel even just to experience that. Thirdly, and to me - the most important: the hosts were lovely and I felt they added a lot of personal touches which never happened in previous hotels I stayed in. I finally felt that I'm being treated individually and not as 'the next customer whose name I can't even remember'.
Needless to say, I just booked a room in the Broughton Hotel for my next visit in Edinburgh. Absolutely worth the price.

+ “The Broughton Hotel was clean and relaxed, quiet and comfortable, as well as being conveniently placed. Nothing was too much trouble for Fiona and Freddie, who both made us so welcome, were helpful, and showed thoughtfulness in continuing to remember particular requests throughout our stay. Breakfasts were ample, varied, and beautifully cooked, and in the evening there was a choice of reasonably-priced restaurants within five minutes' walk. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend staying here.”
- Nothing. We were totally satisfied.
