I stayed three nights on a valentine’s getaway and couldn't have asked for more, except maybe a swimming pool, late night bar and gym, but I didn't need any of that with such lovely hosts. The rooms were big enough with the usual essentials and a powerful shower. Breakfast included traditional fry-up as well as an American style waffle option; a nice change. I get that £60 a night for two is a bit high for a b+b, which this hotel certainly is (I think it's actually called the Broughton Guest House on the sign), but it's right near the centre whilst being far enough away to keep the noise right, down and again, the hosts are lovely. Fiona even let us keep our bags downstairs after check-out so we could enjoy our final day. So, if you're set on that gym and late night cocktail, perhaps you'd best look elsewhere, but if you want a friendly and convenient base to explore Edinburgh, this is the place for you.

Stayed 1 night for a winter wedding nearby. Great central location yet quiet and with the added bonus of private (free) parking if booked in advance. A welcoming homely atmosphere, very clean room and comfortable ( swap the memory foam pillow on the bed for a softer one you'll find in the wardrobe if you like ). Excellent breakfast, freshly cooked and quality ingredients.

“The hotel is in a great position and is in easy walking distance to the centre of town. It is cosy and clean. The breakfast was delicious. Fiona the landlord was friendly and very helpful and kind when one of our friends was ill on our weekend stay.”

Relaxt hotel(lette), zeer centraal gelegen en toch rustig. Bediening/eigenaars erg vriendelijk. Heeft misschien niet alle voordelen die een groot hotel te bieden heeft, maar wel alle sfeer.”

“Everything at the broughton was excellent. We stayed due to the parking and hoped the rest would be ok but we were delighted. Would Definately recommend the waffles for breakfast! Out of this world. The only constructive criticism would be the black pudding, we really didn't like it. However don't let that put you off, as it really was the only thing that was below par. We will be back next Christmas for the markets!”
